Coming Soon...Christmas paintings

My last class of the Fall quarter was yesterday  and I do not start new classes until December. What does that mean? PAINTING!!! I have a few whimsical  holiday sketches just waiting to be painted up. I cannot wait to do these Christmas paintings and share them with you. After the prototype paintings are finished, I will post the artwork plus all other details so you can pre-order a painting.

I can barely contain my excitement about getting the paints out of the closet...and actually painting...and pretty holiday colors...and Christmas trees...and, well, you get it.  Now, I just hope Isabelle goes to bed early tonight so I can get started on this project.

I'm Back!

I'm back! It has been a LONG time since I posted anything so let me explain why. My last post left off in  Summer 2011.  I was full force into painting and waiting for my little bundle of joy to arrive. Isabelle came a month early, which completely caught me off-guard. For the past TWO YEARS  I have felt  like I have been playing catch up on everything. Let me share a quick recap of my past two years. I stayed home with Isabelle for the first year. During that time, the hubby and I decided it would be best if  we parted ways, very amicably might I add. Then, I decided to go back to school to get certified to teach art. So when Isabelle turned one, she began Mother's Day Out  so I could do schoolwork during that time. I put my artwork on the back burner for a little while. Of course, I was having "creative cravings." I needed to do something creative and artsy before my mind exploded with swirls of colors and doodles. That's when I started sketching lots of ideas for future projects.  You can quote me now, "I will write and illustrate at least one children's book." It may not get published, but by golly, I am going to do it!  I have had an idea for a series of books featuring some cute characters and their silly adventures. I will not reveal any more details, but hopefully in the next 5 years I can get this project going. So now, Isabelle is back in MDO, I am back in school (graduate in May, YAY), and my creative juices are flowing! I have several ideas just waiting to be painted so as soon as they are ready, I will share them with you. I am so excited to be back to blogging and painting!

Another Day

Well, I have been up since 6 am and decided to stay awake to get busy. The pets eat early in the morning and lately I have been the one to get up to feed them. I usually go back to bed, but I decided to make a change to my schedule. In about 15 weeks my schedule will dramatically change so I better start adjusting now. It will soon be filled with feedings, diaper changes, and everything else that comes along with a newborn. So, I should really take advantage of my time.  I can make painting my priority right now, but soon it will need to be put aside.

My hubby just called from Japan! YAY! His phone calls always make my day go better. Whether we talk for only a few minutes or get in a good hour long conversation, it's always comforting to hear his voice. Yesterday my fabulous in-laws gave me the new Ipod that has Face Time. Now Heath can contact me  and we can actually see each other while we talk. I haven't seen him since the end of April and he won't be home until the end of December. This was the perfect gift! He called to let me know he'll contact me soon so be ready to answer on the Ipod. Of course I had to put on a just TAD bit of mascara. I want him to see me looking fresh-faced and not so "early morning." Yes, I know he's my husband and it shouldn't matter, but it makes me feel a little better to know I don't look so drab when he sees me. We are still newlyweds you know :)

He should be calling any minute so I am off to talk to my wonderful hubby...then gonna make some pancakes...then gonna start painting. Hope you have a great day, too!

For Lauren

Here's a painting I did to match Lauren's bathroom. Her shower curtain is bright colors with a paisley print. I wanted to do something different so I added some fun texture and mirrors...and yes, doilies!
