Another Day

Well, I have been up since 6 am and decided to stay awake to get busy. The pets eat early in the morning and lately I have been the one to get up to feed them. I usually go back to bed, but I decided to make a change to my schedule. In about 15 weeks my schedule will dramatically change so I better start adjusting now. It will soon be filled with feedings, diaper changes, and everything else that comes along with a newborn. So, I should really take advantage of my time.  I can make painting my priority right now, but soon it will need to be put aside.

My hubby just called from Japan! YAY! His phone calls always make my day go better. Whether we talk for only a few minutes or get in a good hour long conversation, it's always comforting to hear his voice. Yesterday my fabulous in-laws gave me the new Ipod that has Face Time. Now Heath can contact me  and we can actually see each other while we talk. I haven't seen him since the end of April and he won't be home until the end of December. This was the perfect gift! He called to let me know he'll contact me soon so be ready to answer on the Ipod. Of course I had to put on a just TAD bit of mascara. I want him to see me looking fresh-faced and not so "early morning." Yes, I know he's my husband and it shouldn't matter, but it makes me feel a little better to know I don't look so drab when he sees me. We are still newlyweds you know :)

He should be calling any minute so I am off to talk to my wonderful hubby...then gonna make some pancakes...then gonna start painting. Hope you have a great day, too!

For Lauren

Here's a painting I did to match Lauren's bathroom. Her shower curtain is bright colors with a paisley print. I wanted to do something different so I added some fun texture and mirrors...and yes, doilies!

16 x 32"
mixed media

$150

For Lauren

My sweet friend Lauren is the coolest, most stylish 9 year old I know. About 2 years ago, I met her family and became the nanny to her and baby brother Andrew. I loved playing with Andrew all day, but always looked forward to 3'oclock when it was time to pick up Lauren from school. She always had something new up her sleeve. She was my dance partner for our High School Musial dance performances. She kept me in the loop on the second grade lingo. She made me wish I was back in elementary school again. When I asked Lauren what she like about being a kid she replied, "I'm footloose and fancy-free." She is like the little sister I never had. I just love her cool style and sense of humor. Even though I don't get to see her everyday, she is still my little buddy.  I hope my little Isabelle is a sweetheart just like Lauren.

When Lauren's bedroom got redecorated, I just had to do something fun to match the room. She is all about the bright colors, peace-signs, and all that fun stuff. I was excited to paint something cool and funky to match her new bedroom.

Each canvas is 6 x 6" with 3/4" sides.

Peach Festival

For a while now, I have been talking about having a booth at the annual Peach Festival in Ruston, Louisiana. I'm participating in the Arts and Crafts Show held in the Civic Center between 8 am to 6 pm Saturday only. Admission is $5. It's neat to see all the artisans and their handmade arts and crafts. The festival is this coming weekend and I'm trying to do lots of stuff this week to get ready for it. Lately, I haven't had the energy to do much painting or even blogging.  Expecting a baby can really drain you! It is Monday and I am realizing ALL the things left to do to prepare for the festival. I still want to paint a few more pieces before Saturday. I always do my best work when I'm in a time crunch...but that was before there was a baby on the way. My plan is to be VERY productive this week.  My booth will be right outside the Civic Center so please stop by to say hello and check out my artwork! Hope to see ya there!

JUST A LITTLE ABOUT THE PEACH FESTIVAL....
The festival  includes approximately 200 artisans and vendors of all types, both at Railroad Marketplace and at the Ruston Civic Center. Railroad Marketplace is open Friday-Saturday; the Civic Center, Saturday only. There is a parade, antique cars, a rodeo, tennis tournament, 5K run, cookery contest and more. It is a lot of fun for the whole family.

Commissioned Artwork

These paintings were done to go in an office within the Lincoln Health Care building. The owner loves to golf so this vintage bag and clubs seemed like a perfect subject for his office. The wine bottles were just something fun to add to his decor.

"Time to Golf"; 20 x 28"; oil on wood

I love to do still-life paintings. It's probably my favorite genre. I usually do still-life pieces  in oil paint.

"Time for Wine"; 18 x 24"; oil on wood

A similiar painting of oil on canvas would range from $175-$195.
Just let me know your color scheme and I can create a wine bottle painting just for you!

Commissioned Artwork

Here's another piece featured in the Lincoln Health Care office.

It seemed to be a very popular piece. This was my first piece to really experiment with texture paste and grit.

"Textured Blues" ; 30 x 48"; mixed media on wood

Here's a better view of the texture.

The grit and peaked texture gives this piece a very rough surface.

It has layers of red, yellow, blues, and grays.

If you are interested in purchasing a similar piece, please contact me via email.

A similar piece on canvas would range from $300-$400.

Here's another piece I did for the Lincoln Health Care office.

It features a checkerboard pattern in neutral tones and texture.

24 x 30"; mixed media on wood

Commissioned Artwork

Last summer I painted several pieces for the new Lincoln Health Care office in Ruston, Louisiana. This office is located in the Lincoln Outpatient Therapy Services building in the Northpointe office park.

These landscapes are hung in the LOTS lobby. At 4 x 8 feet, it is the biggest painting I have ever tackled. I loved every minute of painting on such a large base!

"Somewhere"  ;48 x 96" ; acrylic on wood

The two smaller paintings are also featured in the LOTS lobby.
They are both 24 x 48" and acrylic on wood.
